Tomorrow When the war began essay
John MArsden
I liked homer cause he was willing to do things that other people wouldn't dare to do he’s a Reptile, troublemaker, problem, slob, loud mouth, macho, wild, crazy, immature; Homer is all of those things. He is also; a leader, a thinker, a planner, as well as careful, innovative, caring, supportive, brave and indomitable This, reminds me of my brother as he is quite crazy at times but has improved to become more mature. Homer is Ellie's go-to guy, her brother-from-another-mother and is one of her oldest friends this is another reason why I like Homer because he’s loyal to his friends and would do anything for him.
Since Ellie's our leading character, it's safe to say that Homer's a pretty important character in Tomorrow, When the War Began, So if he plays an important role he would be an important character and he shows it by treating everyone the same and making good precise decisions Coming from a Greek background, I like to treat people the same so I get treated right back. Homer is forceful and domineering and has trouble dealing with other strong personalities. Before the invasion, Homer is a troublemaker with no directions in life.
No one takes him seriously, and he doesn’t let people think otherwise. As the war progresses, he becomes the natural leader of the group I'm sure most people love that that’s one of his good qualities, while a rivalry starts between him and the resourceful Ellie. His best friend is able to see him changing quickly, despite her denial. Besides that, no one else but Ellie can imagine Homer’s true lack of confidence and inferiority complex. I also lack confidence playing big teams. His arrogance is a shield he uses to avoid facing disappointments.
As Homer progresses to being the group leader, he is compared to what he was like 6 months ago. He has surely shocked his friends and family by the way he has strongly taken up the role of being the group leader
I also like to take the role of being a leader in rugby for my team-mates cause it feels good knowing they have someone to look up to. and I'm almost certain most people like homer by the way he looks after others and makes sure everything is safe At one point, Fi and Ellie are discussing Homer, and fi says:
"I don't know if I like him as much as he likes me, that's one thing. I'd hate to get into a relationship with him where he assumed I felt as strongly as he does. When in my opinion she already knew deep down she liked homer cause he was a changed man.
There was a quote in the book that really stood out that said “The biggest risk, is to take no risks” The book should really admire this quote because the book is based on war and if you don't risk anything then you will most likely fail to succeed This is why I take a lot of risks in my sports mainly rugby I someone get a runaway id have to risk the left side of the backline to stop a try and 90% percent of the time I do and it works this Is why this quote is important.
